SMA PROGRAMS: INDIGENOUS RIGHTS:
Redondeados

Tierra Nativa has submitted petitions for recognition of 94 Tarahumara as “avecindados” of the ejido of Redondeados in the southernmost tip of Chihuahua. This is not the same as being an ejido member, but it is a legal recognition of their condition of residence of the ejido for these Tarahumara who currently have no security or rights to their lands.

This request is also the first step to eventually gaining ejido membership. Redondeados is a huge ejido and one of the largest timber producers in Chihuahua. The ejido is controlled by a known timber operator.
